Chasing Gold: Canada Cup 2025
Hi! I'm Oleksii Lupan
A 19-year-old rower from Kelowna Rowing Club in British Columbia, Canada.
This August, I’ll be competing at the Canada Cup, one of the country’s most competitive regattas, held in London, Ontario from August 11–17. I’ll be racing in both the U21 Men’s Single Scull and the U21 Mixed Eight, representing BC on the national stage.
I’ve been rowing since I was 8 years old, and it’s been my life ever since. From small rivers in Ukraine to the open water in BC, I’ve poured everything I have into this sport.

This year, I won 1st place in the Open Men’s Single at the BC Championships in Burnaby, held July 11–13, coming out on top of a 57-boat field. As a 19-year-old racing in the open category, this was a major breakthrough.

In June, I went through rigorous qualification trials in Victoria, and now I’ve officially qualified to compete at the 2025 Canada Cup — where I’ll be lining up against some of the best young athletes in the country.
I’ll be racing in:
- Men’s Single (U21)
- Mixed Eight (U21)

This is my biggest test yet — and my shot to prove I can win it all.
But like many young athletes, I’m not backed by sponsors or a federation. Travel, accommodation, equipment transport, and competition fees all come out of pocket — and that’s why I’m asking for your support.
Your support will help cover:
- ✈️ Travel to London, ON
- 🚣♂️ Boat rental & gear
- 📣 Coaching support
- 🏠 Accommodation & meals
- ⚡ Unforeseen costs

I’m not asking for charity — I’m inviting you to be part of something real.
Let’s show them what a Ukrainian-born, Canadian-trained athlete can do when the world says it’s not possible.
Every donation — $5, $25, $100 — brings me one stroke closer to that goal.
Thank you for believing in me.
