Learn To Row with KRC
The Kelowna Rowing Club has certified coaches ready to help you experience the thrill of rowing on Lake Okanagan! Many people think rowing is an elite sport reserved for Olympians—but that's not the case!
Our Learn to Row (LTR) program is designed for people of all fitness levels, from teens to seniors. Whether you want to race or simply enjoy the water, this is your opportunity to try rowing in a welcoming and supportive environment.
What to Expect
- Start on a rowing machine (ERG) to learn the basics, then progress to rowing on the lake.
- Row in stable training shells (singles or doubles with pontoons) for added confidence.
- Receive personalized coaching from a coach boat over six 1.5-hour sessions.
- At the end, you’ll officially be a Novice Rower! You can also apply the cost of LTR toward a full-season club membership.

How does the Learn to Row program work?
The program begins with a land session on a stationary rower (ERG) to teach the basic rowing technique. As you progress, you'll transition to the water in our training shells, accompanied by our coaches in coach boats. Over six sessions, you'll learn and refine your rowing skills while gaining confidence on the water.
What happens after completing the Learn to Row program?
Upon completion, you'll have the skills and confidence to consider yourself a Novice Rower. You can choose to continue rowing by applying the cost of your Learn to Row training towards a club membership, essentially making your Learn to Row lessons free. This allows you to row for the entire season and become part of our rowing community.
